Sat 27th: 1400-1800 – Murder Mystery Session

Being an actor in a Murder Mystery is an opportunity to hone your improv skills, keep to the story and character brief and create an atmosphere where the stakes are high and entertainment is key.

We usually have to deliver around food being served, a time when the energy can drop if people are not there and ready to go out and perform. We want real characters of an era, where motive and history have cast shadows over each of their lives.

Yet we also know, as human beings, that there must be a pressure release, with humour used as a dark instrument to ease the tension.

You will be given characters to look through in advance of the workshop, and will be put in groups to discuss how to reveal information, stage arguments and use the time to create that live/‘in the moment’ feeling, with anyone not in your group becoming audience members who will cross-examine you whilst you stay in character.

We will be joined by ITR Detective Luke Lamont for the session, which will be lots of fun and an opportunity to get to know ITR as a company and work with some great fellow actors.

Sat 27th: 0900-1200 – Quiz Hosting Session 1

Hosting a quiz is about making it a live event, and delivering a clear, well-understood evening of competition and enjoyment for all.

Over this 3-hour session, we will look at the following aspects of giving people a cracking quiz:

· Pre-Quiz

· Introduction & clarity

· Pace and rhythm

· Time-keeping

· Audience rapport for private & corporate events

· House Style & communication

· Marking

· Announcing the results

Interrupt the Routine has won awards for its quizzes. They have delivered over 1,000 of them with subjects ranging from general knowledge, the 6 Nations, Black History Month, International Women’s Day, Harry Potter, Taylor Swift, Toasties and Electric Vehicles of the Future.

Those attending will work in pairs, groups and present individually to the room, learning new skills or evolving existing talents. We’re looking to assemble a group of hosts who can deliver to our standards and help bring great quizzes to regular nights, along with private and corporate options.

Those deemed at an advanced stage and willing to take on feedback will be invited to attend the 2nd session on the Sunday (0900-1200) where we will work with a smaller group of people to get what hopefully will be an initial team of hosts to start off our events roster with.
